WILO EMU Taps the Advantages of Hermetic Cooling
For Its Submersible and Dry-Pit Pumps
The world-proven submersible and dry-pit pumps of WILO EMU have been advanced still further with the recent addition of a new HC motor incorporating a magnetically-coupled cooling circulation system.
According to Terry Rouse, President and CEO of WILO EMU USA LLC, "The new advanced motor has been given the 'HC' designation because the motor chamber is 'hermetically' sealed against any form of contamination and is independently 'cooled'. This 'hermetic' approach ensures that the circulating water glycol heat-transfer fluid never has direct contact with the white, high-purity, oil in the seal chamber and, further, that the heat transfer fluids?for both the motor chamber and the seal chamber?have zero contact with the pumped liquid. This ensures that the cooling of the motor and seal is 100 percent-effective under all possible operating conditions, even the most extreme imaginable." This advancement is made possible through the magnetic transfer of torque to the cooling system impeller across completely independent chambers. In no case does the pumped liquid penetrate the coolant circuit. This isolation of the HC motor's cooling capability ensures and protects long-life and operational reliability?even in high load, high-demand applications.
The new HC motor employs many advanced technologies such as: a numerically optimized heat exchange system for the "maximum obtainable" transfer efficiencies; cold-type thermistors for full motor protection; remote control capabilities, and inclined ball bearings with 50 percent more capacity than those typically used in similar applications. This further enhances longevity and also results in smooth?virtually vibration free?operation. The new HC motor is now available for all WILO EMU submersible and dry-pit pump applications in sizes ranging from 7.4 horsepower to 31.5 horsepower. The HC motor is modular in design, meets explosion proof requirements, and is interchangeable with FK style, oil- filled motor designs.
WILO EMU USA LLC, headquartered in Thomasville, Georgia, provides heavy-duty municipal and industrial pumps specifically designed for water and sewage applications, including pumps for sludge, tertiary waste, and potable water. The company is part of the WILO Group, which is one of the world's leading pump manufacturers.
