ABRASIT®
In Side-By-Side Test, ABRASIT® Lasts More Than Seven Times Longer
Wilo EMU grit pumps are manufactured from proprietary ABRASIT® chilled cast iron, which incorporates more than 23 percent chromium mixed carbides. ABRASIT® has a Brinell hardness of 650 plus (Rockwell “C” scale of 63)—more than 100 points harder than other type materials commonly used for these applications. (This level of hardness is only available as an extra-cost option from other manufacturers.)
ABRASIT® is more than seven times tougher than ordinary cast iron, which means ABRASIT® lasts significantly longer in highly abrasive applications, such as those associated with grit filled wastewater.
The unique tetragonal Martensite structure realized in “chilled cast iron mixed with chrome carbides” creates a surface with extremely high wear resistance characteristics.
Wilo EMU grit pump impellers are available in a selection of straight and angled vane geometries.
Point of Special Interest:
ABRASIT® is so tough that it requires specialized diamond cutting tools to complete final machining processes.
